I'm Erin,

Growing up, I always had a camera on me - just in case.  I loved taking pictures of anything - sports action shots, portraits of friends and family, or unique landscapes. As I grew older, I grew fascinated by photojournalism and documentary photography, attending rallies and protests to capture the emotion (while knowing I'd be there if anything historic happened!). My passion quickly developed into a small business, Erin Leone Photography, in 2017. 

In 2021, I moved to the nation's capital, a perfect city for a photographer seeking to refine her portfolio. 

Emotion remains my favorite thing to photograph. I am most inspired by golden-age Hollywood candid portraits, vintage fashion editorials, and lifestyle documentary photography, such as work by Mark Shaw, Richard Avedon, Slim Aarons, and Greg Williams.  

Posed-candid portraiture is my personal favorite, mixing spontaneity with intention.  Capturing character is everything, as is making every moment as intriguing and lovely on camera as it is in real life.  Raw emotion, real expression, and candid moments create the best photos, so my sessions are laid back and cater to the subject.  Discovering the personality of the client I work with excites me and challenges me to bring it to life in my work.
